ABOUT THE TOWN OF ARLON
The city of Arlon is located in Wallonia and is the capital of the Belgian province of Luxembourg. The city is an important commercial and administrative center for the region. It is also the capital of its judicial district. It is also the most populous city in what is known as the Pays d'Arlon. The town lies 185 kilometers southeast of Brussels, on the European rail and road links between Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg. The commune is part of Belgian Lorraine, the only Jurassic geological region (Secondary Era) in Belgium.

the Meuse river to the west and south, with :
the Semois, which rises in the town center and flows westwards through Belgian Lorraine and the province to join the Meuse shortly after it enters France;
the Messancy, which rises in the south of the commune and flows into the Chiers at Athus further south;
the Rhine, with the Eisch, which forms the border with Luxembourg at Clairefontaine and collects water from streams in the eastern part of the commune.
