Herve is a French-speaking town in Belgium, located in the Walloon region in the province of Liège, 8 km as the crow flies from Verviers and 17 km from Liège. Herve is famous for its cheese.
Herve received its title of "town" around 1270, after the construction of the primitive church and the fortress of Herve, of which only the Romanesque tower remains, which was the keep of the castle that protected the town. Like many Liège towns, Herve also had its perron in 1407, but it was destroyed by the French in 1792.
