ABOUT THE TOWN OF HERVE

The town of Herve is home to numerous talented photographers, and there are many opportunities to capture striking images there.

Herve is a French-speaking town in Belgium, located in the Walloon Region within the province of Liège, 8 km as the crow flies from Verviers and 17 km from Liège. Herve is renowned for its cheese.
Herve was granted town status around 1270, following the construction of the early church and the fortress of Herve, of which only the Romanesque tower remains; this was the keep of the castle that protected the town. Herve also had its own town hall in 1407, like many towns in the Liège region, but it was destroyed by the French in 1792.
The municipality of Herve comprises the town itself and 10 villages.

Situated between the Vesdre and Meuse river basins, the municipality’s altitude ranges from 205 m to 335 m. The landscape is hilly. The main agricultural areas are used for dairy cattle farming and fruit tree cultivation.
As the capital of a typical rural region known as the ‘Pays de Herve’, the town is renowned for its Herve cheese trade and its Easter Monday parade.
Herve and its surrounding area enjoy a cooler climate than the rest of Belgium, with temperatures sometimes well below zero in winter, which contrast with sweltering summers.

In addition to its many picturesque alleyways and distinctive atmosphere, Herve offers numerous green spaces and pleasant walks. The town provides a suitable setting for photo shoots that showcase your company, organisation or institution.
Herve is a multifaceted city, well suited to photography.

In addition to the town itself, the municipality comprises 10 main villages: Battice, Bolland, Bruyères, Chaineux, Charneux, Grand-Rechain, José, Julémont, Manaihant and Xhendelesse, surrounded by numerous hamlets. The architectural heritage and folklore of the town of Herve bear witness to an eventful historical past.

We can provide you with a professional photographer in Herve whose skills match your requirements for photojournalism.
