ABOUT THE MUNICIPALITY OF RIXENSART

Rixensart is home to numerous talented photographers, and the area offers many opportunities to capture striking images.

Rixensart is not strictly speaking a town; it is a French-speaking municipality in Belgium situated in Wallonia, in the province of Walloon Brabant, as well as a locality where its local authority is based. The current municipality was formed in 1977 through the merger of the former municipalities of Rixensart, Genval and Rosières-Saint-André.

Rixensart is situated 15 km south of Brussels, 15 km east of Waterloo and 5 km north of Wavre. It comprises the localities of Genval, Rixensart and Rosières.
It is twinned with the following organisations:

Rixensart is crossed by the waters of the Lasne, a tributary of the Dyle. The Lasne is joined here by the Argentine, the Monseigneur stream, the Château stream, the Carpu, the Trou Margot stream and the Baillois stream.
