ABOUT THE TOWN OF SATVELOT
Stavelo is home to countless talented photographers, and opportunities for beautiful images abound.
Stavelot is a Belgian town in the province of Liège, in the Walloon Region.
It lies at the confluence of the Amblève and Eau Rouge rivers, in the Belgian Ardennes. For many years, its abbey was the chief town of a small abbey principality, which disappeared in the political changes that followed the French Revolution.
It is located 50 kilometers from Liège and 150 kilometers from Brussels.
Stavelot is one of Belgium's oldest towns.
It was founded in the 7th century, when Saint Remacle, a monk from the Limousin, was commissioned to evangelize a region of the Ardennes.
The double abbey of Stavelot-Malmedy, an ecclesiastical principality attached to the Holy Roman Empire, had an important spiritual and political influence throughout the Middle Ages.
The French Revolution put an end to this glorious history. The Congress of Vienna in 1815 attached Stavelot to the Netherlands and Malmedy to Prussia.
From 1830, Stavelot became part of the Kingdom of Belgium; Malmedy had to wait until 1919. Although the 1st World War did not spare Belgium, as it did the whole region, it was especially during the Second World War, and especially during the Ardennes Offensive in the winter of 1944, that the two sister towns suffered terribly.
Stavelot has many memories of its past.
The remains of Stavelot Abbey date back mainly to the 18th century. The abbey church was destroyed shortly after the French Revolution. Today, Stavelot Abbey is one of the city's major cultural attractions!
In addition to its many typical alleyways and unique atmosphere, Stavelot boasts a wealth of green spaces and must-see walks. Ideal for unique photo shoots that put your company, organization or institution in the spotlight.
Satvelot is a multi-faceted city, perfect for photography.
We offer you the best photographer in Stavelot whose skills are perfectly matched to your photojournalistic requirements.
