ABOUT THE TOWN OF VISE

The town of Visé is home to numerous talented photographers, and there are many opportunities to capture beautiful images there.

Visé is a French-speaking town in Belgium, located in the Walloon Region within the province of Liège.

Situated on the banks of the Meuse, on the border with the Netherlands, halfway between Liège and the Dutch city of Maastricht, Visé is also known as the ‘City of the Goose’. With a population of around 17,000, it is the only French-speaking Belgian town that shares a direct border with the Netherlands. It forms part of the Lower Meuse region.
In the church, the reliquary of Saint Hadelin is the oldest known example of Meuse art to date (11th and 12th centuries).
The municipality also comprises a number of hamlets, such as Loën, Mons, Petit-Lanaye and Wixhou.
Since 1977 and the merger of the municipalities, the municipality has comprised Visé, Argenteau, Cheratte, Lanaye, Lixhe-Loën and Richelle.
