ABOUT THE PROVINCE OF NAMUR

The province of Namur is home to numerous talented photographers, and it offers many opportunities to capture striking images.

The province of Namur is a province of Belgium situated in the Walloon Region. It is located in the centre of Belgium and falls under the jurisdiction of the Walloon Region.

The Namur Provincial Council is, in a sense, the ‘parliament’ of the province; it draws up the province’s regulations and entrusts its day-to-day management to the provincial executive. The Provincial Council meets in the provincial capital whenever business within its remit requires, and at least once a month. It generally sits on the last Friday of the month at the Provincial Palace. The Governor attends the Provincial Council’s meetings and is heard when he so requests.
These sessions are open to the public. Any member of the public may, if they wish, attend the assembly’s deliberations – except for those concerning individuals or where a decision to the contrary has been taken, in which case the session is held in camera.
Provincial residents may also address the provincial executive directly during a public council meeting. They may further request, in writing, an explanation of the deliberations of the provincial council and executive.
