ABOUT THE TOWN OF ANTOING
The municipality of Antoing is situated along the Scheldt in the Walloon Region, in the province of Hainaut. Significant archaeological discoveries dating from the Roman period have been made there: a villa at the Kennelée quarry, and a burial mound covering a paved underground passage leading to a burial chamber with niches. This burial mound measured 23 metres in diameter, and the site as a whole dates from the 4th century AD.
Antoing is home to numerous professional photographers, and the location offers many opportunities for striking imagery.
From an environmental perspective, the Walloon Biodiversity Observatory estimates that by around the year 2000, 5 to 15 per cent of species had already disappeared and 30 to 50 per cent were in decline in the Walloon Region, with the disappearance and fragmentation of natural habitats being the primary cause. The canalisation of the Scheldt, along with fragmentation caused by roads and the high-speed rail line, adds its own impacts (including pollution, disturbance, land take and roadkill) to those of local industry; however, significant biodiversity still exists in this area (wooded hills and plateaus) thanks to the poor soil quality, which has not encouraged intensive agriculture or forestry.
Antoing, with its many picturesque narrow streets and distinctive atmosphere, also offers numerous green spaces and pleasant walks. The town provides an ideal setting for distinctive photo shoots that showcase your company, organisation or institution.
We will assign a photographer whose skills match your coverage requirements.
