Situated at the confluence of the two Dendres rivers, Ath – with its rich history and exceptional folklore – is the capital of the ‘green country’. It is known as the ‘city of giants’. The ‘ducasse’, which takes place on the fourth Sunday in August, has been recognised by UNESCO since 2005 as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
