ABOUT COMINES-WARNETON
The town of Comines-Warneton is home to numerous talented photographers, and there are many opportunities to capture striking images there.
Comines-Warneton is a French-speaking town with linguistic facilities in Belgium, situated in Picard Wallonia and Romanic Flanders in the province of Hainaut.
The municipality of Comines-Warneton was formed in 1977 through the merger of the municipalities of Comines, Warneton, Bas-Warneton, Ploegsteert and Houthem.
These five municipalities were separated from Flanders under the language laws of 1963. They formed a Walloon enclave within the Province of Hainaut.
In 1982, the name of the municipality of Comines was changed to the town of Comines-Warneton; the addition of Warneton was necessary as only the latter locality held the status of a town.
It has the status of a municipality with linguistic facilities for its Dutch-speaking minority, as is the case for several Belgian municipalities. Comines-Warneton is also a municipality with a distinctive character.
This dual name also reflects the history of our region: Houthem and Bas-Warneton were wholly or partly part of the seigneury of Comines, whilst Ploegsteert was part of the seigneury of Warneton.
In addition to its many characteristic narrow streets and unique atmosphere, Comines-Warneton offers numerous green spaces and beautiful walks. The area provides a suitable setting for photo shoots that showcase your company, organisation or institution.
Comines-Warneton is a multifaceted town, well suited to photography.
Archaeological evidence has revealed that the region has been inhabited for thousands of years.
Small-scale heritage is an important part of Comines-Warneton’s local identity. Chapels, wayside crosses, memorial stones and water pumps are all valuable reminders of our past. Some of these have shaped everyday life and left their mark on popular beliefs. Even today, religious traditions and historical commemorations are linked to these valuable heritage features.
We can provide you with a professional photographer in Comines-Warneton whose skills match your requirements for photojournalism.
