ABOUT THE TOWN OF GENAPPE

The town of Genappe (Genepiën in Dutch, Djinape in Walloon) is home to numerous skilled photographers, and it offers many opportunities to capture striking images.

Genappe is a French-speaking town in Belgium, located in the Walloon Region within the province of Walloon Brabant.
It is the largest municipality in Walloon Brabant, situated at the crossroads of major tourist attractions: Waterloo and its Lion’s Mound, Villers-la-Ville and its ruins, and Nivelles and its collegiate church. The municipality of Genappe is twinned with Narborough (United Kingdom), Littlethorpe (United Kingdom) and Franklin (a town in Louisiana, USA).

Towards the end of the 12th century, the Dukes of Brabant built an imposing fortified castle on the right bank of the Dyle. A small market town sprang up around it, home to ducal officials and, above all, merchants.

The first charter of franchise probably dates from 1211. From then on, this new town (Nova Genappia) would be known as Genappe, whilst the former rural village would become ‘Vieux-Genappe’.

The main villages in Genappe are: Bousval, Glabais, Houtain-le-Val, Loupoigne, Vieux-Genappe and Ways.

In addition to its many picturesque alleyways and distinctive atmosphere, Genappe offers numerous green spaces and pleasant walks. The town provides a suitable backdrop for photo shoots that present your company, organisation or institution.
Genappe is a multifaceted town, well suited to photography.

Genappe features several façades adorned with cimorné and marbrite, characteristic of rural Art Deco: 4 Rue Émile François (Ways) and 128 Avenue des Combattants (Bousval).
It is a Walloon stage on the Via Gallia Belgica route of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, which continues via the Via Turonensis into France. The previous notable stage is Mont-Saint-Guibert; the next is Nivelles.

We can provide you with a professional photographer in Genappe whose skills match your requirements for photojournalism.
