ISOWAY recently carried out a photo report at the JRC in Karlsruhe. The aim was to capture the various facets of the research carried out at the JRC, ranging from state-of-the-art laboratories to high-tech facilities.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to photograph researchers working on cutting-edge research projects, such as energy storage technologies and advanced materials for nuclear reactors. We also documented the JRC’s unique research facilities, such as the fast neutron decay facility (FRM II) and the neutron scattering facility (SINQ).

During a recent assignment at the JRC in Karlsruhe, we observed first-hand the organisation’s expertise and advanced technology. The resulting images showcase the significant efforts underway to address global challenges and illustrate how scientific progress can help create a safer, more sustainable world.
In addition to these state-of-the-art research facilities, we also documented various aspects of daily life at the JRC in Karlsruhe, such as collaborative workspaces and conference rooms. One of the most interesting aspects of our assignment was observing how different disciplines collaborate at the JRC to achieve common goals. For example, we photographed nuclear physicists working alongside materials engineers to develop safer and more efficient nuclear reactors.
