One half of the duo…

Hello everyone,

Would you like to know who is behind ISOWAY? Here is half of the answer.

My name is Paul MARNEF.

Originally from Brussels, I am a photographer and the founder of ISOPIX. I thrive on challenges. This partnership with Daïna LE LARDIC (co-founder of ISOWAY) embodies that challenge: a new adventure for both of us. We established the agency in September 2020 to combine our ideas, creativity and energy.

I am passionate about photography. My role combines technical and artistic challenges, enabling me to capture my vision of an event. Originally a reporter, I began my career as a photographer at a photo press agency. The role suited me because photojournalism is a varied and demanding field. It also prompted me to explore new tools and technologies that enhance images. That’s how I came to specialise in ‘tiny planet’ photography.

My influences are wide-ranging, yet I have a particular appreciation for Jimmy Nelson. The English photographer travelled the world with his view camera for his project ‘The Last Tribes’ – or ‘Before They Pass Away’, as it was originally titled – to capture remarkable photographs of indigenous peoples. If you are not yet familiar with his work, please explore it.

I could also, on a slightly more traditional but no less important note, mention Sebastião Salgado. He is widely regarded as one of the finest photojournalists of his time.

Finally, whilst we’re on the subject of documentary photography, I invite you to take a look at the work of Frédéric Noy, a highly talented French photographer.
