ABOUT THE TOWN OF CREIL
The town of Creil is home to numerous talented photographers, and there are many opportunities to capture striking images there.
Creil is a French commune in the Oise department of the Hauts-de-France region. Situated in the Oise valley, north of the Paris region, this town of nearly 36,000 inhabitants, known as Creillois, lies at the heart of the Creil urban area, the largest in the Oise department.
Located just 25 minutes from Paris-Gare du Nord, it benefits from excellent air and motorway links.
As the gateway to the Oise Regional Nature Park, the town is crossed by the River Oise. This geographical location allows its residents to enjoy a rich natural environment and a large number of green spaces.
Creil is also an open and accessible town, served by the A1 and A16 motorways and close to two airports (Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Beauvais-Tillé). Its railway station, which attracts nearly 20,000 passengers a day, provides a connection to Paris-Gare du Nord by train and the RER D in 25 minutes.
Once the site of a royal castle in the Middle Ages, Creil developed primarily during the 19th century, thanks to industry that benefited from the arrival of the railway in 1844 and its proximity to the capital. Initially specialising in earthenware, the town grew into a major centre for metalworking and, from the 20th century onwards, was home to several factories linked to the automotive sector. The town expanded around the railway station on the right bank from 1850 onwards, while its historic centre remained on Île Saint-Maurice and later on the left bank. During the ‘Trente Glorieuses’, large housing estates were built on the plateau overlooking the valley. However, the town was hit hard by the crisis in the metalworking sector from the 1970s onwards, leading to rising unemployment and social problems. A major urban regeneration project, launched in 2007, covers several neighbourhoods in the town.
In addition to its many picturesque narrow streets and distinctive atmosphere, Creil offers numerous green spaces and attractive walks. The town provides a suitable setting for photographers and for producing unique photo reports that showcase your company, organisation or institution.
Creil is a multifaceted town, well suited to photography.
Ideally situated at the entrance to the Oise Regional Nature Park, Creil is a pleasant place to live where families can enjoy numerous green spaces, playgrounds and allotments.
Shaped by the history of earthenware, Creil’s heritage and its promotion are at the heart of the town’s cultural and community initiatives.
Many venues and facilities welcome our residents, providing them with access to a cosmopolitan and intergenerational cultural experience.
A town committed to its community, Creil proudly holds the titles of ‘Ville Internet’, ‘Ville Fleurie’, ‘Ville Nature’ and ‘Ville Ludique et Sportive’.
We can provide you with a professional photographer in Creil whose skills match your requirements for photojournalism.
